Ever wondered what Hogwarts house you were in? Know what Hogwarts house you’re in, but don’t know much about it? Well then, have I got just the thing for you! Sure you could create a Pottermore account and take the official quiz and learn about your house there… or you could continue reading for a short, but effective sorting quiz and info about each house!
So you’ve decided to stay, have you? Well then let's get started, shall we! First, I am going to ask you a question and the answer you choose will determine your house. Then, I’m going to give you a bit of info about your houses, such as their traits, its alumni, and its founder. The question I am asking is not mine, I saw it on TikTok but unfortunately could not find the TikTok again, but I wanted to let everyone know that this is not an original question. But anyway, here we go! If you want to get your house accurately, please do not read ahead! Also, this is not a brain teaser. Just choose the answer that best suits you! Don’t think too hard about it!
So you’re stuck in a room and you’re trying to get out. There is a door and it’s the only way out, but it’s locked. Do you,

Got your final answer? Great! If you chose choice A, you are a Ravenclaw! Ravenclaws are known for their wit, cleverness, and wisdom! The house traits include intelligence, creativity, sharpness, and originality. The house was founded by Rowena Ravenclaw. Unfortunately not much is known about her, but her daughter, Helena Ravenclaw aka The Grey Lady, is the house ghost. The house animal is an eagle, its colors are blue and bronze, and its head, the teacher in charge of the house, is Filius Flitwick. Some famous alumni of Ravenclaw include Garrick Ollivander, Sybill Trelawny, Gilderoy Lockhart, Quirinus Quirrell, Cho Chang, and Luna Lovegood. Fun fact: Rowena Ravenclaw’s diadem, a type of crown, was one of Voldemort’s Horcruxes and was extremely hard to find.
If you chose choice B, you are a Slytherin! This is obviously the best house, but I might be a bit biased because I’m a Slytherin so... Now before going any further, if you are a Slytherin, DO NOT BE ASHAMED! Slytherins are in no way bad, even though they are painted that way in the books and movies. Slytherins just tend to do whatever it takes to get what they want. Anyway, Slytherins are known for their cunningness, ambition, and resourcefulness! The house traits include pride, determination, self-preservation, and leadership. The house was founded by Salazar Slytherin. Salazar was a Legilimens, which, put basically, is someone who can “read minds”, and he was a Parcelmouth, which is someone who can speak to snakes. Besides those facts, not much is known about him. The house ghost is the Bloody Baron, the house animal is a serpent, the colors are green and silver, and the house head was Severus Snape, who was eventually succeeded by Horace Slughorn. Some famous Slytherins include Severus Snape, Draco, Lucius, and Narcissa Malfoy, Bellatrix LeStrange, Tom Riddle, and the great wizard Merlin. Fun Fact: The Slytherin common room is in the dungeons and there is a large window that looks out into the depths of the black lake and you can often see the Giant Squid and other underwater creatures swimming by!
If you chose choice C, you are a Gryffindor! The worst house (I’m kidding of course!) Gryffindors are known for their bravery, chivalry, and courage! The house traits include determination, nerve, daring, and adventure. The house was founded by Godric Gryffindor, and like the other house founders, there is not much known about him except for the fact that the sorting hat belonged to him and he volunteered it to sort students after the founders died. The house ghost is Nearly Headless Nick, the house animal is a lion, the colors are scarlet and gold, and the house head is Minerva McGonagall. Famous alumni include Harry, James, and Lily Potter, The entirety of the Weasely family, Sirius Black, Hermione Granger, Remus Lupin, Albus Dumbledore, Peter Pettigrew, Rubeus Hagrid, Neville Longbottom, and Oliver Wood. Fun fact: Tom Felton, the actor who plays Draco Malfoy, was sorted into Gryffindor by the Pottermore quiz but believes he is a Slytherin.
Last but certainly not least, if you chose choice D, you are a Hufflepuff! A criminally underrated and ridiculed house, Hufflepuffs are known for their loyalty, trustworthiness, and kindness! The house traits include fairness, patience, modesty, and being hardworking. The house was founded by Helga Hufflepuff, who was known for being particularly skilled in food-related charms, hence the reason why the Hufflepuff common room is located on the same floor as the kitchens! The house ghost is the Fat Friar, the house animal is the badger, the colors are yellow and black, and the house head is Pomona Sprout. Famous alumni include Cedric Diggory, Nymphadora Tonks, Susan Bones, and Newt Scamander. Fun fact: Hufflepuff has produced the least amount of dark wizards. The only canon (something that comes from the creator of a work) dark wizard to come from Hufflepuff was Cedric Diggory in an alternate timeline in The Cursed Child, another story in the HP universe.
